bride kayla // the peachtree club - atlanta makeup artist

Currently, I am dreaming of summer time . . . Warm, humid air (yes, I'm even missing the humidity at the moment) summer nights at my son's swim meets, drinking tons of coconut water each day, and my summer brides.

When it comes to summer weddings, the questions I receive the most are, "Will my makeup last?" . . . "My ceremony and reception are indoors, but we want photos outside. Is my hair going to fall flat? Will my foundation melt?" When makeup is applied correctly, with heat and humidity in mind, your makeup will last. With the right products (and teasing, if needed), your hair will be beautiful . . . even at the reception, and even when it's 94 degrees outside. And if you need additional reassurance, there is always the option of booking me for the day! I will be right there to give touch-ups and guarantee flawlessness!

I had many summer weddings in 2016, and one of my favorite brides was Kayla. She is effortlessly gorgeous and just glows! I had the pleasure of doing hair and makeup for Kayla, and makeup for her mother and bridesmaids. I knew her wedding day was going to be a blast when we had her trial session. Kayla, and her dear friend Lennie (both pictured below), were a blast to be around! We talked all things hair, makeup and skin care, as these two are true glam girls. (Side note ladies, we still need to plan a makeup day! I'm thinking trying new looks and Sephora!)

These photos by Picture This Photography, having me wishing for more downtown summer weddings, with gorgeous brides who have amazing friends . . .

As I look back at these photos, I am in love with Kayla's bridal look. For her makeup I used all neutral tones and a bit of rose gold on her eyes. For her hair, we went with a low, messy updo that allowed an easy transition from her ceremony veil, to her reception bridal comb . . . Classic, bridal beauty.

What's you're preferred bridal look? Are you a fan of the classic look? Or do you tend to like more dramatic looks? Comment below!

I'm looking forward to all my #corianneelizabethbrides for 2017. Summer is jammed packed with brides and their bridal parties, and I enjoy every moment!

Tom Ford Soleil Color Collection: New Kit Additions

As a beauty professional, I most certainly have items in my kit that are staples. Meaning, no matter what other products come my way, they will forever be in my kit (unless the company decides to change the formula, which unfortunately happens sometimes). That being said, I am still on the lookout for new goodies, especially due to the fact I go through so much product, so quickly.

With summer fast approaching, this is a time I really keep my eye out for new products. Many cosmetic brands release summer collections and it's a great opportunity to try out new things!

Tom Ford is a favorite of mine. Between the luxurious brushes and the texture of the eyeshadow . . . Love them! I knew Tom Ford would be putting out a summer collection so I had been on the lookout for the new product. I'm typically not one to buy things once they hit the website, because I like to do my research. I finally decided what items I wanted from the collection based on the needs of my clients, work I have coming up, and things I personally want to try out.

One of the products I chose to try it is their Bronzing Primer. This product simply intrigues me. I think it would be great for a "no-makeup" makeup look; to warm up fair skin; and even to brighten caramel complexions.

I also decided on their Bronzing Powders as well. This comes in Gold Dust, Terra and Bronze Age. Now, I am not one to use bronzers to contour, I simply use them to add warmth to the face (and sometimes the body). Often time with bronzers, I think they are too orange or they have too many shimmery particles in them, so I'm looking forward to testing these on myself and my #corianneelizabethbrides.

I also grabbed the Cream and Powder Eye Colors in the shades Naked Bronze, Black Oyster and Golden Peach. These are eye color duos that offer a metallic cream eyeshadow paired with a sparkling powder. I love the concept, because I think the duo with help provided just the right amount of dimension.

The Shimmering Body Oil I just had to have. I personally like to use shimmering body oils in the summer for a night out; plus they are great to have in the kit for photo shoots. I'm not sure if this is something I will use on my brides. It will depend on how it dries and sets on the skin.

Do any of these items peak your interest? If so, which one?! I will definitely update on how these products work out. I'm hoping each of them is a keeper!

Makeup Lovers: MAC Cosmetics Select Loyalty Program

How many of you are makeup lovers? I thought so ;-) If you enjoy playing with makeup, wear makeup daily or are a makeup artist, then I'm sure you are aware of different loyalty programs offered by various stores. These programs typically offer points, based on purchases, and after you accumulate a certain amount you will receive makeup or skin care goodies; dollars off your purchase amounts; cosmetic bags; or even invites to special events!

Sephora and Ulta are two places that I shop regularly because they offer loyalty programs. And it's a simple way to say thank you to consistent customers. Well, MAC Cosmetics has FINALLY jumped on board!

MAC now offers what they call their "MAC Select" program, and if you shop there often, you need to sign up. As a beauty professional I go through a TON of makeup, and although I don't all of my kit isn't MAC products, I do love some of their blushes, lip colors, lip liners and powders.

They have 3 different levels of the program: Seduced, Devoted and Obsessed. You will automatically become part of the "Seduced" level when signing up. You'll be able to purchase exclusive products (I've already ordered a lipstick shade that was designed from the trends of this year's runway looks), receive complimentary samples and free shipping for online orders.

To become part of the "Devoted," you must spend at least $150 . . . And some of you can spend that in less than  5 minutes! Some of the added perks are a free express makeup application and an anniversary gift from MAC.

The premier tier for you makeup addicts is "Obsessed." This level is perfect for makeup artist and all of you MAC fans. If you spend $500 or more at MAC, this is for you! You're spoiled with being able to shop new collections before anyone else (and we know how quickly things can sell out), receive enhanced product samples, a Back to MAC tracker and so much more!

This isn't for everyone, but if you shop MAC often, why wait?! You can check it out here!
