bride kayla // the peachtree club - atlanta makeup artist

Currently, I am dreaming of summer time . . . Warm, humid air (yes, I'm even missing the humidity at the moment) summer nights at my son's swim meets, drinking tons of coconut water each day, and my summer brides.

When it comes to summer weddings, the questions I receive the most are, "Will my makeup last?" . . . "My ceremony and reception are indoors, but we want photos outside. Is my hair going to fall flat? Will my foundation melt?" When makeup is applied correctly, with heat and humidity in mind, your makeup will last. With the right products (and teasing, if needed), your hair will be beautiful . . . even at the reception, and even when it's 94 degrees outside. And if you need additional reassurance, there is always the option of booking me for the day! I will be right there to give touch-ups and guarantee flawlessness!

I had many summer weddings in 2016, and one of my favorite brides was Kayla. She is effortlessly gorgeous and just glows! I had the pleasure of doing hair and makeup for Kayla, and makeup for her mother and bridesmaids. I knew her wedding day was going to be a blast when we had her trial session. Kayla, and her dear friend Lennie (both pictured below), were a blast to be around! We talked all things hair, makeup and skin care, as these two are true glam girls. (Side note ladies, we still need to plan a makeup day! I'm thinking trying new looks and Sephora!)

These photos by Picture This Photography, having me wishing for more downtown summer weddings, with gorgeous brides who have amazing friends . . .

As I look back at these photos, I am in love with Kayla's bridal look. For her makeup I used all neutral tones and a bit of rose gold on her eyes. For her hair, we went with a low, messy updo that allowed an easy transition from her ceremony veil, to her reception bridal comb . . . Classic, bridal beauty.

What's you're preferred bridal look? Are you a fan of the classic look? Or do you tend to like more dramatic looks? Comment below!

I'm looking forward to all my #corianneelizabethbrides for 2017. Summer is jammed packed with brides and their bridal parties, and I enjoy every moment!

Bride Yvonne: Modern Downtown Atlanta Wedding

Last year, I had the opportunity to work with an amazing young woman, Yvonne. Not only is she absolutely gorgeous (with stunning red hair), she has a beautiful spirit and is so much fun!

Yvonne and her husband Clifton got married last May, at an amazing location in Atlanta, Georgia. Studio No. 7 is where they chose to hold their celebration; it's a creative space that includes an art gallery.  I was so excited to work with Yvonne after speaking with her about her bridal style. She knew she wanted Hollywood waves for her hair and she would be changing into a jumpsuit during the reception! I'm all for a bride who decides to switch it up a bit during her wedding day.

I was honored to work with both Yvonne and her mother, providing hair styling and makeup for the wedding. We began our bridal glam session at Twelve Centennial Park Hotel, an upscale hotel in downtown Atlanta. It has an modern feel and gorgeous views of the city.

The amazing Janel Elise Events was there to ensure everything ran smoothly. Colleen of 2nd Truth Photography photographed Yvonne and Cliff's engagement photos, and was there to document their wedding day as well.

The Perfect Bridal Manicure

Your exquisite wedding gown, flawless face and beaming smile, along with your perfectly coiffed tresses all receive plenty of attention on your wedding day. But your hands should not be forgotten  – from the first flash of that glistening engagement ring to the joining of wedding bands.

For perfect bridal hands, it is critical that you focus on protecting your hands from the sun, while keeping them moisturized. A rich hand cream with SPF will do the trick. Keeping your hands moisturized ensures no rough, scaly looking skin, while helping you keep those cuticles in check. The sun protection will keep sun spots and premature wrinkles at bay. So as a part of your wedding planning, don't neglect your hands and make them a part of your "beauty" routine. Two of my favorite hand creams are below:

Deborah Lippmann's Rich Girl Broad Spectrum SPF 25 Hand Cream

La Prairie's White Caviar Illuminating Hand Cream

As a bride, your bridal manicure will depend on your bridal style. For a slight twist on the traditional, try a pretty blue nail color, for your "Something Blue."

OPI's Eternally Turquoise

Soft and neutral nail colors keep the overall bridal look sweet or even modest, if that is your preference.

OPI's Steady As a Rose

For those of you that love a french manicure, but desire something a bit different for such a special day . . . Try changing up the color options, like below. It's different without being to bold.

If you typically like designs on your nails but are a bit concerned about going overboard, you can always stick with a shade of pink or peach, and have a design added in white.
